The rail that separates the basement stairwell probably needs replacing or restabilizing. I'd anticipate doing this as part of a kitchen remodel.

We replaced the rail at the top of the stairs with an open cabinet with cubbies. Right now we have the original cabinet's particle board back on it. I'd like to replace that with plexiglass or some inexpensive clear acrylic.

I want to replace the light as well, but don't know what with.
