We have two fireplaces: one upstairs and one downstairs.
We don't tend to use them, because we're lazy. In California, we had a fireplace gas insert and found that we used it a lot more after that.
I'd be interested in installing inserts one or both fireplaces, but want to know:
- can you get an insert that you can use even if the electricity is out?
- can you get an insert that (in the event of an extended gas outage, due to, say earthquake) you ... switch back to woodburning (I'm assuming not!!!)
- can we put an insert in one fireplace, but not in the other (our fireplaces are stacked, so I don't know if doing one means doing both . . .
