The hot water heater is located under the kitchen, next to the furnace, but the gas supply line isn't large enough to supply both (so we have an electric water heater).

If and when we do a copper re-pipe, we are thinking about moving the hot water heater to the laundry room (near the gas entrance and near all three bathrooms and the laundry room) and use some kind of instant hot water heater thing in the kitchen.
